Let’s look back at two inspiring and highly productive days at the 6th Executive Summit hosted together with TRUMPF Kft., Gödöllö, Hungary, where international automotive experts gathered to discuss the future of body-in-white manufacturing, lightweight construction, automation, and next-generation production technologies.

Reflecting on the 6th Executive Summit at TRUMPF, Hungary

Christian Kovacs

The automotive industry is currently navigating one of the most transformative and demanding periods in its modern history. Against this dynamic backdrop, the 6th Executive Summit - TARGETED DESIGN OF MATERIAL PROPERTIES BY THERMOMECHANICAL TREATMENT, hosted together with TRUMPF Hungary in Gödöllő, became an exceptionally vibrant and strategically valuable meeting point for decision-makers, engineers, technical experts, Tier1 suppliers, equipment manufacturers, and consultants from across the international automotive landscape.

For two intensive and remarkably productive days, industry leaders from the UK, Sweden, Spain, Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Turkey, and China gathered to exchange expertise, challenge conventional thinking, and discuss the rapidly evolving future of body-in-white manufacturing, hot forming technologies, automation, digitalization, and lightweight construction.

A Truly International and Highly Engaged Audience

What made this year’s summit especially impactful was the extraordinarily diverse and highly experienced audience. The event successfully brought together strategic decision-makers, manufacturing specialists, process engineers, R&D experts, and technology innovators from a broad spectrum of automotive-related industries.

Throughout the event, the atmosphere was energetic, intellectually stimulating, and refreshingly open. Discussions during coffee breaks quickly evolved into passionate technical debates, while the common dinners created an exceptionally relaxed and friendly environment for deeper professional exchanges and new partnerships.

The willingness of participants to openly discuss current market pressures, technological limitations, and future opportunities demonstrated how strongly the industry recognizes the urgent need for transformation, understanding and collaboration.

Outstanding Collaboration with TRUMPF Hungary

The cooperation with TRUMPF Hungary was extraordinarily successful and deserves special recognition.

In particular, we would like to sincerely thank Mrs. Rita Kelemen and Mr. Tamas Major, Managing Director at TRUMPF Hungary, whose exceptional support, confidence, professionalism, and hospitality played a decisive role in the success of the event. Their commitment and trust created the ideal environment for high-level technical exchange and meaningful networking.

Equally impressive was the outstanding support from the entire TRUMPF team from Germany and Gödöllő, HU. From the reception staff to the catering personnel, everyone contributed with remarkable friendliness, attentiveness, and professionalism. The welcoming atmosphere significantly enhanced the overall experience and made all participants feel genuinely appreciated.

We would like to once again express our sincere gratitude for the extraordinary hospitality and partnership.

High-Level Presentations Addressing Critical Industry Challenges

The summit agenda featured an impressive range of keynote speeches, technical presentations, and interactive workshops covering some of the automotive industry’s most urgent and strategically important topics.

Highlights included:

  • Frank Schieck (Fraunhofer IWU, Germany) presenting groundbreaking insights into thermo-mechanical treatment and targeted component properties.
  • Lisa Ruopp (TRUMPF Laser, Germany) discussing future competitiveness in laser cutting and cost reduction strategies.
  • Eren Billur (Billur Metal Form, Turkey) demonstrating advanced simulation techniques for cold and hot forming processes.
  • Janko Banik (ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe, Germany) showcasing sustainable and high-performance hot forming innovations.
  • Nan Li (Imperial College London, UK) introducing novel one-shot forming processes for multi-material lightweight structures.
  • Mohamed Mohamed (HFQ Technology Associates, UK) highlighting robust aluminium forming technologies for lightweight applications.
  • David Coron (Gestamp, Spain) delivering a compelling keynote on next-generation joining technologies for Body-in-White structures.
  • Christian Juricek (Magna, Germany) providing a comprehensive overview of current market challenges and industrial transformation.
  • Max Brandt (strato7 GmbH, Germany) addressing the increasingly influential “China Speed” phenomenon and its profound impact on future development strategies.

Additional presentations covered highly relevant topics such as:

  • AI-powered process optimization,
  • intelligent monitoring systems,
  • advanced furnace technologies,
  • automation solutions,
  • laser beam shaping,
  • tailor welding technologies,
  • process stability,
  • automation fixtures,
  • and future-oriented quality assurance systems.

The workshops stimulated particularly lively exchanges, especially around technology implementation, global market developments, and the urgent strategic adaptation required within the European automotive ecosystem.

Networking That Truly Connected the Industry

Beyond the technical presentations, one of the summit’s greatest strengths was undoubtedly the quality of networking.

This event created a uniquely open and collaborative environment where participants could engage in candid conversations about both opportunities and challenges facing the industry. Evening gatherings were especially lively, filled with dynamic discussions, valuable business exchanges, and genuinely enjoyable moments among colleagues and partners from across Europe and Asia.

These personal interactions remain one of the most valuable components of such executive-level events, enabling long-term cooperation, cross-border innovation, and strategic partnerships.

An Industry at a Critical Turning Point

A central conclusion repeatedly emphasized throughout the summit was unmistakably clear:

The automotive industry is facing enormous structural, technological, and economic challenges that can no longer be addressed through incremental improvements alone.

Global competition, accelerated innovation cycles, increasing cost pressure, sustainability requirements, digital transformation, AI integration, and rapidly evolving customer expectations are fundamentally reshaping manufacturing strategies worldwide.

The industry must rethink established processes, reorganize operational structures, and embrace far more agile and collaborative approaches in order to remain globally competitive.

Strong Feedback and Looking Ahead

The feedback received from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many attendees praised the exceptionally high technical quality of the presentations, the relevance of the topics, and the open atmosphere for discussion and networking.

At the same time, participants actively contributed valuable suggestions for future topics and organizational improvements through detailed feedback forms and direct discussions.

We highly appreciate this constructive input and will carefully consider as many recommendations as possible while preparing next year’s program together with our partners.

With the strong momentum generated during this year’s summit, we are already looking forward to developing an even more innovative, international, and future-focused event for next year.

The 6th Executive Summit clearly demonstrated one essential reality:
Only through collaboration, technological courage, and open international exchange can the automotive industry successfully master the challenges ahead.
